My name is Ethan Southall

I am a 3D Artist with a Games Design Bachelors degree, currently pursuing a PhD in "Multi User Extended Reality (XR) Experience in Cultural Heritage" at Bournemouth University. I like to create 3D passion projects based on my personal interests, such as Doctor Who, Marvel, Percy Jackson, and much more, as well as my own original ideas!

Whilst working on my MHA project, I had a secret side project on the go...
It was my amazing girlfriend's (@daniellee.dixon, feat. Frederick the Hufflepuff rabbit) birthday on November 3rd, and with her being a Harry Potter fan, I decided to make her wand from her playthough of Hogwarts Legacy. I modelled the wand itself in Blender, the owl pommel in Zbrush, 3D printed and painted by hand, alongside some artifically aged in-game screenshots (with some mixed results not pictured here), and a box with a yellow hufflepuff themed lining. This was an amazing project to work on, and her reaction was worth all of it. I love you so much, and I can't wait to work on more presents for you in the future <3

Time for another My Hero Academia Uraraka project update! I think I'm getting closer to being finished with this project which is exciting! I have been experimenting with the lighting a lot, trying to get something more interesting, and I think I'm quite happy with it. I still have some tweaks to do! I noticed that the walls were still looking a bit bare, so I have added some posters to take up some of that space. Thanks to @buriedaliens for letting me use his great Kaminari cosplay (I'm still looking for someone who has cosplayed Ashido and is willing to participate!) Hopefully the next update will be a set of finished renders! The main things left to are the Ashido poster, some more floating props and some texture/lighting fixes.

I've got something a bit different to show today! I'm into collecting pop vinyls (I think I'm close to 300 by now..) so I decided to make my own pop vinyls using a combination of 3D printing parts and painting on existing pops. Here I have a Percy Jackson pop vinyl (more towards his book version, I'm hoping they'll do a pop of Walker Scobell's portrayal!) He originally started off as Seong Gi-Hun from Squid Game and end with a whole lot of painting (definitely not my strongest skill) and a small amount of 3D printing, He is now Percy Jackson! I also have works in progress of Annabeth, Grover and Luke too that I'm slowly working on. It's been a while since I have posted an update on my "My Hero Academia" project, so here it is! I have decided to scale the project down in some ways and increase it in others. Initially, I was going to have roughly 7 hero suits on display during this piece, but I decided to instead do 1 hero costume with more background props more fitting to that hero, in this case, Ochako Urarka. By doing this, I could have one nice filled out display, instead of 7 more rushed displays which are near copies of each other. A small scene depicting objects used frequently by or are synonymous with the Eleventh Doctor:

- Amy Pond's Glasses
- The Crack
Overall, the scene is meant to be a tribute to the Eleventh Doctor. The Galifreyan symbol inside the drawer is the number 11, with the symbols on the drawer being the christmas cracker poem read to him by Clara shortly before his regeneration into 12.

Got another update to share, this time of my "Hannah Toomes" character. I have primarily been working on the retopology stage of the character. Once that its complete, I plan to take her in Marvellous Designer and to carry on with her clothes. I made a start on the clothes a while ago (I don't think that has been shared here but it has now!) Hopefully the retop stage wont take too much longer, I might go insane otherwise.

Sharing a quick update about my MHA hero museum project, its been a while since I have shared and update!

I'm pretty sure that I'm happy with the modelling and texturing Uraraka's hero costume and I have made some progress in modelling/texturing of a hall section of the museum, using Uraraka as the focus of this section (The posed Uraraka costume in the case is still temporary, its just there so I could get a feel for what the exhibit would look like). Massive thanks to @bepo_chan_ for letting me use her Uraraka cosplay photos, I think it makes it looks awesome!

I have also started working on Midoriya's costume, mainly because I'm putting off rigging and weight painting because I absolutely hate it.

Soooo I've started another project that I'm going to be working on alongside my Hannah Toomes character. This project is going to be a segment of a Hero Museum with exhibits for 7 heroes (All Might, Midoryia, Bakugo, Kirishima, Uraraka, Asui and Kendo). So far, I have got a whitebox for the scene, as well as the beginnings of Uraraka's hero costume. Haven’t done an update on my Hannah Toomes character since I finished the model sheet a longggg time ago so I reckon its time for one. It’s not perfect, but I think it’s a better than my previous 2 attempts at character modelling, which I’m really happy with. I’ve still got a long ways to go but hopefully it’ll all go smoothly! So far, the model has been entirely made in Zbrush, with the rendering for these WIP images done in Blender. Before this project, I really wasn’t that confident in Zbrush but I feel like im really getting to grips with it and I’m excited to do a lot more with it. Huge thanks to @tomudaleart for his help with Zbrush and other feedback in general.

Been working on a 3d model of Sumarbrander / Jack from the Magnus Chase series as a smaller side project whilst still working on my larger Percy Jackson project. There's still a bit of work to do, as the pendant is the disguised form of Jack, I'm planning on doing an animation of transforming from rune to sword, like I did with Riptide.
